Pivoting is a funny word. We use it to describe change, but it is a turn with a stationary base. It is being grounded and pointing the camera in a new direction. On the other hand, we move with our feet when we transform, exploring a new playing field with new teammates, new clients, and new rules.
When we pivot, we look for the minimum amount of adjustments: keeping the same business card, working with the same people. When we change, and even more so perceptually, we are energized by finding new people to work with, creating new ways of talking about ourselves, and most importantly, new models of value.
