The more disconnected you are from your practice, the less willing you are to support those who are not. The more detached you are from your work, the more you will help companies rather than individuals.

When we work for a large company, there is a comfort in receiving meaning from it—our job authors a sense of purpose and practice. When someone asks 'what you're interested in?', some reply with their job description. Dismissing personal agency over interests is a sign of such disconnection.
